Public hearing to discuss new minimum wage
SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The Department of Labour is holding a public hearing in George to obtain input from employers, trade unions and employees regarding setting the new minimum wage for the private security sector.

The current minimum wage dispensation for the sector lapses on 31 August this year and a new minimum wage dispensation for the sector needs to be published by 1 September.

The hearing is part of the department's investigation into the private security sector with an aim to review the conditions of employment and minimum wages within the sector.

In addition to the new minimum wages to be discussed, input at the hearing will also be with regard to any other conditions related to the operation of the sectoral determination within the sector. The hearing in George will be on 11 May at 10:00 at the George Labour Centre, St Albert Square, 35 Albert Street.
