No vanity plates for Jobs - ever!
Jobs’ ride - it never had a licence plate.
MOTORING NEWS - Steve Jobs Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG never had a vanity licence plate or even an ordinary one!

Besides the signature black turtleneck, New Balance sneakers, and blue jeans, Jobs was known for driving a silver Mercedes SL55 AMG.

What was perhaps most interesting about Jobs' ride was the fact that it never had a licence plate. The car was often photographed, but always without licence plates.

How did he do it? Did he pay the fine every time he was confronted by the police? Did he obtain a special permit? Did he just take a chance?

The answer is actually very simple. A loophole in California's vehicle laws was used. Anyone with a brand new car had up to six months to affix the issued number plate to the vehicle.

So Jobs had an arrangement with the leasing company. He always changed cars during the sixth month of the lease, exchanging one silver Mercedes SL55 AMG for another identical one. At no time did he drive a car that was six months old - and thus there was no legal requirement to have the number plates fitted.

The leasing company was probably also happy with the arrangement. They had an endless supply of luxury cars to sell on with the added selling bonus that the previous driver was Jobs.

Recent service delivery protest action turned into riots and caused extensive damages on the N2 in Knysna. Some people reason that the rage, violence and destruction that so often characterise protest action are indicative of people’s fundamental alienation from democracy, their feelings of hopelessness, marginalisation and exclusion. Others believe that violent protest action is the result of politicians’ and other power-hungry groups’ exploitation and incitement of desperate people. Who should carry the most blame?
