Police Sergeant Chris Spies late yesterday afternoon, August 6, confirmed the incident.
"The Knysna Detective branch is investigating a case of culpable homicide following the death of a 5-year-old boy at Balie Street, Concordia, Knysna on Thursday, August 4 at about 16:10.
"It is alleged that the boy was cycling in the street, with a friend, when he was hit by a construction vehicle from behind. This vehicle drove over the boy and came to a standstill against an electrical pole. The boy died on the scene.
"All the circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated and the vehicle will be kept until a mechanical investigation has been conducted and the investigation continues, " said Spies.
