The day calls on citizens do take 67 minutes out of their schedules to change the world around them for the better and by so doing celebrate the 67 years former president Nelson Mandela spent changing South Africa.
Several residents and businesses in Bitou became involved in a wide variety of projects – from sprucing up daycare centres in underprivileged areas and helping the elderly to cleaning up the town and building kennels for rescued animals.
The Bitou Municipality and its staff had a busy day and were involved in a range of activities including establishing a vegetable garden on Saringa Street which will be handed over to a organisation run by elderly residents to help put food on the table.
