SEDGEFIELD NEWS FLASH - With the country in the grips of a terrible drought several Garden Route residents have donated thousands of bottles of water, which are being distributed through the Water Shortage SA campaign among those most affected.
One of these donated bottles marked "from Sedgefield" landed in the drought-stricken Free State town of Smithfield. Sedgefield Locals Facebook page administrator Quintin Brand said he had been contacted by Johann Greeff, the administrator of the Smithfield, Free State Info Facebook page, requesting help.
"We've had a request to try and find out who sent this bottle from Sedgefield," said Brand. The photograph of the bottle was placed on the Sedgefield Locals Facebook page on January 15 but sadly nobody has yet been identified as the kind donor.
A comment by a member of the Facebook group summed up the sentiments of most donors, saying, "The mystery of the water bottle - I have no idea who sent this particular bottle, but [it] was obviously sent with the right attitude.
"Maybe the sender does not want their name to be known. All the way to Smithfield, Free State with love from Sedgefield. Imagine where all our bottles are today and how many people and animals have been helped."
