NATIONAL NEWS - Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says Tuesday’s vote of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma is an opportunity for African National Congress (ANC) MPs to take a stand against corruption.
He says that since the vote will be held in secret, there will be no reason for MPs to hide behind claims of intimidation.
Malema says his party will continue lobbying ANC MPs to support the motion right up until the last minute.
“We’ve fought for all members, not only of the ANC, including other opposition parties who’ve been intimidating their members and forcing them to vote for President Zuma.”
Meanwhile, United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader Bantu Holomisa, who took the secret ballot matter to the Constitutional Court, says Tuesday’s vote is about saving South Africa from a corrupt president.
