KNYSNA NEWS - Oakhill Prep U13A girls’ hockey team has enjoyed a wonderful weekend of hockey and camaraderie while on tour to the Eastern Cape from July 28 to 30.
This is the second year that Oakhill has been hosted by the Diocesan School for Girls (DSG) in Grahamstown, offering another great opportunity for Oakhill and DSG to extend their relationship after DSG visited Knysna for Oakhill’s co-ed prep hockey festival in April.
The girls were excited to take up the challenge to join DSG for their local Grahamstown Astro tournament to play two DSG teams, U13A and U14B, as well as Kingswood’s U13A girls team. En route, the Oakhill girls were also very fortunate to have an exciting game against Collegiate Girls School U13B.
Says coach Rene Korsten, “We are very pleased with the level of hockey and the opportunity to be tested against high-level school teams, where our girls fared exceptionally well with two wins and two draws. Thank you to DSG for the warm and friendly Eastern Cape hospitality”.
The team continued on to Jeffrey’s Bay for some fun and team building overnight, ready for the season ahead.
St Andrews Prep were on tour to Knysna to play Oakhill U13 hockey and rugby on July 31 and August 1 respectively. Awesome hockey was played, with St Andrews winning the U13B game and Oakhill the U13A game. The U13A game was exceptionally tight and Oakhill coach Alastair Trafford enthused about the game, saying it was "a great advert for school hockey with exceptional skill and great goals on the day".

Oakhill especially enjoys the opportunity to reciprocate the hospitality by hosting their guests for two nights, and hopes to continue this wonderful sporting arrangement for future years.
