According to available information, four armed black men walked into the shop shortly before 15:00. They tied up four staff members and asked one employee to open the safe. They stole diamonds from the safe and items of jewellery from the display cabinets. The value of the stolen items has not yet been disclosed.
No shots were fired and nobody was injured.
The four robbers fled in a red Volkswagen Golf. It is believed that they drove along the N2 toward Plettenberg Bay. Police officers remain vigilantly on the lookout for the robbers.
Anybody who has any information about the armed robbery or the whereabouts of the four men, is urged to contact their nearest police station immediately.
