This happened at around 16:00.
Shirango was taken to hospital and traffic was being diverted into one lane causing a long back-up of more than a kilometre each way while rescue services pulled the bakkie out of the estuary.
Solomon Shirango, Reggie’s brother, was at the scene and told the Knysna-Plett Herald, his brother had phoned him the moment his accident happened.
According to Solomon, Reggie walked out of the crumpled vehicle, with no visible signs of injury to his face, arms or legs. “I don’t know what could be hurt inside of him after an accident like this though,” said Solomon, who said his brother was quickly taken in an ambulance to hospital.
According to officials on the scene, no other vehicle was involved and there were no injuries apart from those sustained by Shirango.
