Plett libraries joining computer age
10:02 (GMT+2), Wed, 18 July 2012
PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Bitou libraries recently launched a new electronic system known as SLIMS (Sita Libraries Information Management System).

Thirteen staff members attended two days of intensive training provided by Provincial Libraries Services.
Further training was provided at each individual library by provincial IT specialist, Vusi Tafi.

Whilst member information is being captured onto the new system and books are assigned barcodes, Bitou's libraries are currently still operating manually.

Library patrons will be notified as soon as the libraries are operating on a full electronic system.
