SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - For many decades, rumors of the possible escape and survival of the Grand Duchess Anastasia, daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, the last sovereign of Imperial Russia, assassinated with his entire family in 1918, has run rife.
Over the years, several women have falsely claimed to have been Anastasia, the most notorious of whom was a German citizen, Anna Anderson.
The Monroe Theatre will be screening 'Anastasia' on Thursday, 24 May at 18:30, a film inspired by Anderson's claim to be the real Grand Duchess Anastasia.
In the film, an opportunistic Russian businessman (Yul Brynner) tries to pass a mysterious impostor (Ingrid Bergman) as the Grand Duchess Anastasia. But she is so convincing in her performance that even the biggest skeptics believe her.
Bookings can be made with Joan on 082 415 9588.
