SOUTHERN CAPE BUSINESS NEWS - It is his all-consuming love of music that led Michael Moses from being a professional musician to his current passion of selling musical instruments at his two shops, one in Oudtshoorn and one in George.

An inviting atmosphere makes it a pleasant venue for musicians to browse and view the selection of guitars, keyboards, drums and accessories.

Downtown Music, a compact shop situated at 45A York Street in George, houses a cross section of guitars including the iconic Fender Stratocaster, Cort, Ibanez Crafter and Ovation - and Michael owns his own custom made Eric Clapton signature guitar
"What I don't have in stock I can order," Michael says with a smile. Keyboards in stock include Roland, Medeli, Clavitech and Korg, as well as guitar amps like Fender, Marshall, Vox and Roland.

Amongst the ancillaries you will find the Mapex drum brand neatly displayed on his shelves. PA systems stocked include Mackie, Proel, Alto, Studiomaster, Peavy and QSC.

Lessons

To liven up his shop and the CBD of George, Michael has lined up music lessons in drum, guitar, piano, saxophone and keyboards to take place in a teaching room at the back of his shop.

Plans are underway to shake George up a bit. Michael and his friend Grenville Harty will be playing Blues Rock and local musicians are advised to watch the press for details on jamming sessions, which are sche-duled to take place in town. "To promote Downtown Music we will be playing at gigs around town. It is about time that locals sit up and notice us," says Michael with a smile.

Both are seasoned guitarists. Michael began his career 35 years ago, and has always loved performing; as a solo artist he did the circuit of Cape Town and surrounds, and played with various bands - even at the Baxter Theatre.
There is ample parking in front of Downtown Music.

For more information contact Michael at 082 461 8661 or visit the store at 45A York Street.
