The Waterfront Knysna Quays invited 100 children from communities in and around Knysna for an early Christmas treat last week. The children, aged between six and 13, were identified through volunteers from BADISA in Knysna, and teachers at Ruigtevlei Primary School in Sedgefield. They came from Witlokasie, Greenfields, Joodse Kamp, Hornlee, Robololo and Ethembeni in Knysna, and Smutsville en Ruigtevlei near Sedgefield. The children and some volunteers were on December 1 and 2, treated to rides on one of The Featherbed Company ferries where a very knowledgeable skipper entertained the children telling them about the Knysna lagoon and identified landmarks, after which everyone received a food parcel prepared by Featherbeds chefs.
