News that a mosque will be built in Rawson Street caused something of a war on social media last week. This followed a ruling by the Western Cape High Court on April 5, that the Knysna Muslim Council's (KMC) will be allowed to build their mosque in Rawson Street after more than two years of a legal battle between a group of residents called the Rawson Street Homeowners who opposed it, and the Knysna municipality for approving the building plans and the KMC.
