PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Plettenberg Bay man accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend with a spade last month is scheduled to take his place in the dock again today, Monday August 21.
Natasha de Lange was allegedly beaten to death with a spade and her body left in her Kwanokuthula home for days before police made the grisly discovery on July 30, 2017.
She allegedly died at the hands of her partner, who was arrested shortly after her body was found.
The suspect, who has not yet pleaded, was set to apply for bail in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Wednesday August 16, 2017, but during his court appearance it came to light that he had had a change of heart and no longer wished to do so.
This after a large group of Plettenberg Bay residents staged several protests against the suspect’s release on bail, including a march in Plett, a petition and another protest in Knysna.
The matter was postponed to Monday for further investigation. It was also transferred back to the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court after being transferred to Knysna for a formal bail application.
