KNYSNA NEWS - Most of the rivers feeding Knysna and Sedgefield are flowing normally, according to statistics supplied by Knysna municipality.
Aimed at the period between 16 and 18 February, the statistics show that both the Knysna and Gouna rivers are flowing at approximately 50mm above their respective weirs, with the former pumping 81.90 litres per second and the latter pumping 29.44 litres per second.
The Akkerkloof and Glebe dams are 44% and 15% full respectively, said the municipality.
The Karatara River, though, is experiencing a low flow, according to the municipality.
Information supplied regarding Knysna's reverse osmosis plant and Sedgefield's desalination plant reveals that neither is currently in use, but that the "main purification plant is fully operational".
* The Knysna-Plett Herald tries to supply readers with up-to-date weekly statistics regarding water availability and usage, and relies on the municipality to supply this information.
We also aim to inform residents of the water situation in general, and in this respect have tried numerous times to get information from the municipality.
The latest meeting, scheduled for Monday 19 February at 12:00, was unfortunately cancelled.
